Product Information
Outdoor enthusiasts participate in an array of activities and we understand the need to pack light and eat well. Backpacker's Pantry creates dishes that satisfy not only your palate but your nutritional needs as well. Products are prepared using both the freeze drying and dehydration methods which not only reduces the weight and prolongs shelf life, but also locks in all the nutrients needed to keep an active body fueled and ready for the next adventure.

Although shelf life varies, most items will stay fresh for about two years with items including nuts, seeds or dairy lasting slightly less time. If you are not planning to use the products right away, we recommend storing them below room temperature. This product is not recommended for long term storage.

Performance products are enhanced with an all natural vitamin supplement designed to provide you with the recommended daily allowance of vitamins and minerals. Cooking Information
Cooking dehydrated food requires the addition of water. Be certain of your water needs before you leave for your adventure. In addition to a supply of drinking water and washing water you will need an average of 5-6 cups of water, per person, per day, for three complete meals.

Cooking instructions are established at an elevation of 5,344 feet. Changes in elevation will effect total cooking time, as much as doubling it with every 5,000 feet gained. To help reduce cooking time and fuel consumption presoak your ingredients and keep your cooking container covered. also consider our delicious No-Cook items that require only the addition of boiling water.

Serving Size
A one cup serving size as established by the FDA is equal to one serving for an adult. Backpacker's Pantry recognizes that active people often require more than the recommended 2,000 calories per day, as a result you will find the portions are larger than the FDA's recommended one cup guideline.
